Rick Santorum finished strong in Missouri and is neck and neck with Mitt Romney in Colorado. Those who have written off Mr. Santorum as a potential candidate for president might ought to take another look. I believe tonight shows that it is not just a two man race for the republican candidate for president, but anything can happen. Santorum is proving to the Romney and Gingrich that he is a force to be reckoned with.
Romney has the money, Gingrich has the brains, but Rick Santorum has true conservative values and does not have a past that haunts him like a prison record. The big question that republicans need to ask is whether or not Santorum can defeat Obama in the general election. In my opinion, Santorum comes across as someone who is benign for lack of a better word, but looks can be deceiving and he just might surprise us all.
Meanwhile, I hope that Gingrich and Romney do not start slinging mud at Santorum. There has been enough negative campaigning in this race. May all the candidates start to focus on policy and defeating President Obama and quit trying to see how much they can smear their fellow republicans.
