Walmart Slashing Food Prices

According to Fox News' Bulls and Bears, Walmart will be slashing food prices by 1 billion dollars this year. Those who believe that inflation has hit the US economy believe this is a smart business move by Walmart to bring in more volume to their stores.

With gas prices heading towards the $4 gallon mark, Walmart's decision to cut food prices is good news for the American consumer.

While there are some who complain that Walmart hurts small businesses, in a tough economy, Walmart once again proves to a friend to the American consumer.

Don't Critizize, Pray for Others

My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers

This devotion convicted me of a wrong attitude that I have sometimes regarding faults in other people. Though I do not always vocalize, sometimes I have a harsh, critical attitude. In today's devotion by Oswald Chambers, he speaks of the importance of not criticizing but interceding for others when you notice their sins (see 1 John 5:16 ).

As we go through this life, we should pray for one another, making intercession to God, praying that He would help all of us in our struggles. I realized a long time ago that I am very far from perfect and have my own struggles with sin and it is just by God's grace that I am able to say I am a Christian. However, as I seek God's help for myself, I should also be seeking God to help others instead of having a critical spirit towards them. I need to adopt the mind of Christ towards others, and love others with the love of God that is in my heart through the Holy Spirit.

The Bible says to judge not less we be judged. While it is important that we do not pass judgement on others, it does not mean that we are to  totally ignore sin in others. If I were about to step in front of a car speeding down the highway, would you not do your best to stop me, saving me from a certain death. How much more should we try to help others who are engaging in sin, which is more dangerous than any natural perils we face. Why not begin helping others by interceding to God for them? Instead of gossiping about them, or criticizing them, why not pray for them, not out of a sense of moral superiority, but in  a spirit of humility, realizing our own wretchedness.

The moral of this post is:  When you see others faults, don't criticize ( a practice that accomplishes nothing) but pray for them. Also realize that none of us are perfect and that the only good we can lay claim to is God's amazing grace. May we pray for one another and help each other make it home.

Faithful to What ?

What are we faithful to in our lives? The thing that captures our faithfulness will determine the course of our life. Whether it be commitment to wealth, health, family, pursuit of pleasure, appearance, or any other aspect of our existence. While some things in life do indeed warrant our faithfulness, everything that makes up the natural life will one day be dissolved. On that great day the only thing that will matter will be our relationship to Christ and all that remains will be the things we accomplished that were worthy of Him. Furthermore, I believe the things that are worthy Of Christ are those things we do out of faithfulness to Him, especially those things we are prompted to do by His Spirit and accomplish through the power of His amazing grace.

What are we faithful to? May we be wise and choose to be wise to the only wise God, Jesus Christ.

Hunger Games Review

The family and I ventured out to watch the highly acclaimed "Hunger Games". After all the hype, the promise of a somewhat interesting plot, and knowing that my 11 year old daughter wanted to see the flick, I was compelled to take my family to see the dark, futuristic movie. For the sake of those who have yet to see the movie I will not divulge the plot but will give my honest opinion on the movie. The storyline was solid, captivating not overly predictable with some interesting plot twists. For the storyline, I give the "Hunger Games" an A+.

The acting in the "Hunger Games" was up to industry standards and the actors and actresses gave a steller performance. For acting I give the "Hunger Games" a A+.

If I had to give any negative feedback on the "Hunger Games" it would be on chracter development. The character development was not bad but I would have liked it a slight bit deeper. On character development I give the "Hunger Games" an A-.

Overall I think that the "Hunger Games" is an excellent movie that kept my interest throughout. Hunger Games is also a familiy friendly movie with some violence but little gore and no sex, nudity or profanity ( I think I may have heard one curse word, I am not sure).

Many people, including my wife are obsessed with getting the highly coveted, six-pack abs stomach or washboard abs. Here are some common sense ideas on obtaining those six-pack abs.

Six-Pack Abs: Some Facts You Should Know
It is the common question of most: how do I get six-pack abs? Yes, this is the most common concern of people as unfortunately it is our midsection where most of the accumulated extra fats from food are stored. Another sad thing is it is difficult for most of us to get rid of the fats around our abdominals that is why it is really important to know some straight facts in order to understand how to reach the goal of having six-pack abs.

Cardio Exercises, Strength Trainings, and Low-Caloric, Healthy Diet
All people have six-pack abs. How come? You might want to ask. Six-pack abs does exist in your midsection. If you don't see it, it is because a layer of body fats has accumulated on top of it concealing the washboard abs in the process. This validates the fact that doing rigid abdominal exercises alone will not give you the much-wanted six-pack carved out on your stomach. If your mid-section has layers of fat in it, there is no amount of training that can get that pack visibly on your body.
To build that pack, you have to reduce the fats stored in your abdominal section first. This can be done by following a proper nutritional program which will stop fats from developing more. The program must consist of a healthy, low-calorie diet and not with low-carbohydrate, low fat consumption.
The abs training will serve as a way to burn those fats already accumulated by the midsection of your body. The abdominal training must not be constituted by hundreds of repetitions to achieve the six-pack. This is a mistake that most continually to make thinking it can hasten developing the pack. What are needed for this case are not the many counts of repeating specific abdominal exercises.
Instead, you need a good quality, strength body training/workout, which means, you target not only the muscles in the abdominal but on the other parts of the body where the muscles need boosting as well. With this kind of training, you are working on your overall body parts, which is a good thing because it means overall goodness and health as well.

Six-pack Abs are Strong Abs
Though some see no purpose except for aesthetical reasons in getting six-pack abs, doing the ab exercises can actually be good to your overall physical and health. Having a sculpted abs may mean having a great physical look, but it goes more than that. Having a set of sculpted abs can mean having a strong abs, which means also having a strong support to the spine as well as strong protection to the back.

So, when you are doing exercises to target the muscles in the midsection of your body, you are not only taking care of your physical look but the overall aspect of your body as well. However, it is important to remember that abdominal exercises are only part of your complete program with as far as getting a six-pack abs, or overall fitness for that matter, is concerned.

Putting it all Together
When aiming for a nice set of six-pack abs, it is important that you not only focus on your midsection but on the overall needs of your body. A combination of proper nutrition, cardiovascular training, and good quality strength abdominal exercises is the ideal formula to achieving that goal; therefore, focus on these three essential ingredients to effectively see that sculpted mid-section of your body.

Quentin Fottrell makes some good points on why not to buy the new iPad*. As tech companies such as Apple* continue to push the latest version of their hot tech gadgets to consumers, buyers should take a close look before shelling out another $500. The features on the new iPad* are alluring, but if I already had a good tablet, I don't think I would rush out and buy the new iPad*, just like I probably will not buy a new laptop while my old one is functional.

However, if you do not own a tablet and you want to join the Apple* family, why not get the top of the line new iPad*. If I had the $500 to spare, I probably would go with the new iPad*. But since I don't have $500 to spare, I will have to be content with my iPod Touch* 4G or go with a less expensive tablet.

Senate Blocks Bid To Speed Keystone Approval -- But Obama Loses Dems Despite Lobbying | Fox News

Americans should be outraged at the latest antics of our President. At a time when gas prices are on the rise and many Americans are out of work, blocking an amendment that speed approval of the Keystone Pipeline is in my opinion ludicrous. It is reported that the underlying factor in blocking this amendment is lobbying by none other than, guess who, Barack Obama.

The Keystone Pipeline could lesson America's dependence on foreign oil, which is a big plus for America considering the unrest in the Middle East. Why keep America dependent on oil from nations like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela or other foreign powers? It seem like a no-brainer that America should take advantage of any energy resources available domestically or from Northern neighbor Canada.

In addition to helping wean America off of foreign oil, according to analysts the Keystone Pipeline could provide much needed jobs for US workers. With many Americans struggling to find employment, the estimated 20,000 jobs from the Keystone Pipeline could provide some relief.

Elvis Costello asks the question in one of his songs, "Whats so funny about peace, love and understanding?" Well, Mr. Obama, whats so wrong with our own oil, lower gas prices and job creation.

1% Tip Was a Hoax

According to the Fox News show the Five, the story about a banker leaving a 1% tip was a hoax. Why someone would  fabricate such a story is a mystery. Maybe it was an attempt to make the top 1% income earners look bad? It maybe just something to get attention.

However, my occupation is a server at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and there are instance when I get a 0% tip. I am telling the truth, some people do not tip, or the tip disappears before I reach the table, unfortunately it is part of the job.  I should not  complain though, because the generous tippers more than make up for those who leave $0  or small tips.

However, big tips, small tips, it don't matter, for it is God who abundantly supplies my needs.
