E-Readers and Android Tablets, Should I Buy a Name Brand or Generic

Since the introduction of the computer tablet, the brands and variety of tablets has exploded. If you do a search on Amazon (TM) or eBay (TM) for computer tablets you will find that there are myriads of tablets available. There are your name brand tablets and there is also a host of knockoff computer tablets that are Android tablets. The person considering buying a computer tablet may wonder if they should buy one of the more expensive tablets or a cheaper Android(TM) tablet. Which is better?

Name Brands are Better

Naturally the name brand computer tablets are better devices with better functionality. The person who will be using the device for work purposes should by a name brand tablet. In my opinion the Apple(TM) tablets know as iPads TM) are the best. The Amazon tablet 'Kindle Fire'(TM) and Kindle Fire HD'(TM) are good products in their own right but I believe Apple has Amazon beat when it comes to computer tablets. However, the Amazon device does not cost as much as the Apple product, but you get what you pay for. For simple, non-critical work perhaps the Kindle Fire HD 7" or 8.9" device my be a less expensive option rather than buying am iPad. Currently the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" is available for $269  on Amazon.com. I did find one a little cheaper on eBay.

Generic Computer Tablets

The person that does not mind having blazing speed and super functionality may be satisfied with a tablet. A generic Android tablet can be purchased at a fraction of the price of one of their name brand counterparts, but then again, you will get what you pay for. However, many of these generic Androids tablets work fine, just a little slow with some occasionally some glitches. One of the worst glitches that I have had with one of my generic Android tablets is that the battery will not hold a charge. Of course there are other glitches but this is one of the worst.

So Which Computer Tablet Should I Buy?

If you have the money and are looking for something that is fast and dependable, go with the name brand tablet. If you are on a tight budget and really just looking for something to play around with, there is nothing wrong with going with a generic tablet. I do not recommend buying one on eBay unless it is new, from a vetted seller or a great deal. It is better to buy from a retailer so that if something is wrong with the tablet you can send it back.

Nuclear Threat from North Korea

Who would have thought that North Korea would have the audacity to threaten the United States of America, the great Super Power and world leader. Wake up America and smell the bitter coffee, it has happened. According to "Hannity" on Fox News, North Korea has moved a missile or missiles to their east coast.

Will North Korea try to Nuke North America or are they  just doing some saber rattling? Nobody really knows. I took my family to see the movie "Red Dawn", a remake of the popular 1980's movie. In the original "Red Dawn" which starred the late Patrick Swayze, the United States were attacked by the Russians on their home soil. In the latest version of the movie, it is the North Koreans who are attacking the United States on their 'home turf'. When I watched the movie I thought the idea of North Korea attacking the United States was far-fetched; however, the threat of North Korea attacking the United States may be closer to reality than we want to think.According to different news sources, the North Korean army has been cleared to attack with nuclear weapons.

People in the United States may feel that we are safe from the threats from this island nation. Some U.S.citizens may believe that the United States is a Super Power and invincible. But the truth is that no nation or person for that matter is invincible. People and nations are mortal which means we can be destroyed. Think of the Biblical account of David and Goliath, David was the underdog going up against the giant Philistine champion. Yet, David slew Goliath because it was ordained of God.

I am not predicting that North Korea is going to destroy the United States of America, but that people in America need to realize that we are not invincible, we can be defeated. .Superior military might does not guarantee our national security. The only true security or safety it is from God Almighty. The times of the United States and all the nations are in His hands. We are all in His hands. The only safe place is in Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Praise God, that through His death and resurrection He made it possible for us to take refuge in Him.

I do not know what the future holds or what nations like North Korea will do, but I do know the one who is in control, His name is Jesus, the Son of God. I encourage all, don't fear North Korea or anything else, but fear God and keep His commandments. One day we will all appear before Him, on that day all that will matter is what we did with Him and how we lived this life we have been given.

Tell Men not to Rape

So I am sitting here watching Hannity on Fox News. The discussion is about women be able to defend themselves with a firearm. One lady on the show believe women should be able to carry a gun to protect themselves against crimes such as tape. Being a husband, father and somewhat of a decent guy I agree with this ladies logic, yes women should be able to carry a gun for self defense. However, another lady on the show had a compelling argument against women being armed. This lady gad an altogether different approach to preventing women from being raped, this simple yet novel approach is al awesome I wonder how come I never heard of it or thought of it before. Are you ready to hear her solution to rape, a solution that does not require a dangerous weapon. Brace yourselves, you are going to be in awe at the brillance in this ladies thinking . The lady said that we simply need to tell men not to rape. If we can just get the word out to men not to rape women. That is the solution, just tell the all the males of the human race not to rape and there you have it, problem solved. No gun, no shooting, no need to resort to violence just tell men not to rape women. Such s simple way to solve this age old problem. To be fair to this lady I believe what she was trying to say was that we need to educate men not to rape women. In a perfect world this might work but we live in a world far from perfect that is permeated with evil. We cannot educate the evil out of people but we can educate ourselves on how to protect against the evil. Only God can deliver people from from their evil tendencies, but not all people will come to God. Therefore, as long as their are those who refuse God and choose to pursue evil, I believe women should be able to carry a gun in order to protect herself against any one whom might attack her.

Favorite Scene from the Two Towers

Towards the end of this epic picture the people are being pressed upon by the orcs with no place to go. There is an option retreat back into the mountain but with so many orcs there is no hope. Women, children and the old are trapped at Helms Deep along with the king, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and elf and men soldiers. With all hope fading, Aragorn encourages the king to ride out with him against the orc army. Morning is starting to dawn and Aragorn references what Gandolf said about coming on the fifth day and something about the east. As the king, Aragorn and the soldiers ride out to meet the orcs we see Gandolf in dazzling white on the eastern mountain looking down on the masses of orcs attacking the fortress. Gandolf leads an army down on the orcs and saves the besieged city of men. Two things that touch my heart about this scene : 1) Aragorn encouraging the relunctant king to ride out with him against the orcs against overwhelming odds. Even though things look hopeless we should not shrink back but should courageously ride out to meet our opposition. Do not give up, there is always hope, which beings me to my second point. 2) Gandolph appearing in the east to save the besieged city. Aragorn remembered what Gandolph said about looking for him on the fifth day. The night was over, morning breaks and with it hope. No matter how hopeless things may seem we never know when help may arrive. If we are looking to God, He will help us in due time. Remember, that He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. One more thing, Gandolph in white appearing in the east puts me in mind of the return of Christ with the armies of heaven. The forces of evil may seem like they are going to win but our Lord will return like He said He would, you can count on it.
